Current Project Time recording approach.

Standard Approach

This uses an excel spreadsheet.

Reporting User.

  • An excel sheet is provided for each project.
  • The user fills in their user name and the period they are reporting for on the front sheet
  • The user selects the sheet for the projects they are working on. Using an existing list of project tasks, they fill in the UID and Task description for each task they have worked on, and the hours, ETC, EDC and comments.
  • Extra sheets are provided for entering other-in-house work details and leave details.
  • Totals for each project are copied automatically to the front sheet.
  • The user writes the timesheet to a special date and user based filename.
  • The user mails the timesheet to payroll, their manager and each project manager they are working for.

Group Manager

The group manager optionally checks each timesheet for consistency and to track staff time. Normally saved for historical searches.

Project Manager

The project manager will extract from the relevant pages of the timesheet the amount of time a user has spend on a project. Optionally, they will enter the time worked, ETC and EDC information into project schedules.
